walk to park

This morning our little family went to Piedmont park. We like to go there a lot.
However today was different.

With any great passion of the arts the more you submerge, the more you learn and discover.
I consider C.S. Lewis to be one of the great thinkers and authors of all time, he turned me on to the idea that upon reading a story over and over again one might discover things that they never knew was there, despite the words never changing. I now know why people can read books over and over again and still enjoy them.
The same principle can be applied to photography and atmosphere. I have been to Piedmont Park dozens of times and I have walked the same path, however today the walk was different. I discovered things in the park that I had missed last time I was there; my connection with art and surroundings is alive...I feel more like a finder of cool things......

and i give you the mornings' findings....

life.

Life should not be boring, I believe that God intended for us to lead lives that are full of excitement, privilege, and inspiration. I know everyone has their own definition of "abundant life," perhaps mine is just more extreme. I do not want to live in the mundane, boring race that seems to consume most everyone, I want to drink in the possibilities of something new, something fresh and raw.
Revolution.

As I reflect on the past year, my heart is filled with mixed emotion. On one hand I have experienced extreme joy and I have experienced extreme sadness. It is true that the good comes with the bad.

On Monday, Charlie and I decided to climb Stone Mountain finally.

The weather was hot hot hot, but the view was incredible.
I would do it again in a heartbeat.

My niece turned four years old.
She is a princess and she knows it.
I love her with all my heart, that little squirt.

Alyvia pool day

I made her cake and cupcakes for the party.

ho hum

today is a sick day for me.  i dont get sick usually.

anywhoo practical was yesterday and amongst the baked goodness was this:

Mille Feuille:

Mille Feuille

Mille Feuille Close

I was quite happy with the result.

Oh! I made Presidents List for the first semester! This is the first time I have had a 4.0 in school - Im going to brag.

Last night, Charlie and I made pizza from leftover puff pastry dough.

Topped with vodka sauce, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, goat cheese, capers, and smoked salmon.

Charlie was a hungry man ready to eat!

:)

and for me I made a couple raw pizzas from spaghetti squash, tomato, kale, avocado and for kick - wasabi and ginger.

it was nice.

I had a few extra moments yesterday and wrote this.

on DESSERT & DESIGN:

No one wants to eat ugly food. We all strive for beauty. Beauty in how we look, beauty in our homes, and beauty in our food. Dessert is already sensual, forbidden. Humans must eat substance, but dessert is always considered a treat, something to indulge in, never to take for granted. To achieve beauty there must be balance. The harmony of the elements working together to create an eye-pop. Granted beauty is the eye of beholder, but there is a common beauty that most people can agree on (being of the same species).

and thats it.
