florida vacation

charlie & i took a vacation for our two year anniversary.





it was nice. we stayed on the beach for some of time.







he is happy.



we went geocaching too, there were three on the beach.









one of my favorites of the trip!









i have few words to say except that it was fun.....a much needed break!

walk to park

This morning our little family went to Piedmont park. We like to go there a lot. 

However today was different.  

        With any great passion of the arts the more you submerge, the more you learn and discover.
I consider C.S. Lewis to be one of the great thinkers and authors of all time, he turned me on to the idea that upon reading a story over and over again one might discover things that they never knew was there, despite the words never changing. I now know why people can read books over and over again and still enjoy them.
         The same principle can be applied to photography and atmosphere. I have been to Piedmont Park dozens of times and I have walked the same path, however today the walk was different. I discovered things in the park that I had missed last time I was there; my connection with art and surroundings is alive...I feel more like a finder of cool things......

This is a HUGE 3 part post.

Part one: Vacation  

Charlie and I spent the last week in Florida visiting friends, family, and the beach. We celebrated our one year anniversary in the place that we fell in love and got married.

However, sadly my camera died and I realized that my charger was 7 hours away...not worth it.

but not before I shot this.

Wayne's (Charlies brother) pet duck! He hangs out with the dog. 

and a few other things we did.

We went hiking with mom at Robinsons Preserve. 

We went out to celebrate Schrocks Birthday! Surprise Party Style.

Part Two: Photoshoot

Part Three: Raw Food

Layered Chocolate Mint Bar

Layer 1: Chocolate Brownie

½ c soaked almonds

½ c walnuts

2.5 T cocoa powder

2.5 T coconut oil

2.5 medjool dates

1 t vanilla extract

pinch of sea salt

Blend almonds and walnuts until meal-like consistency.

Add everything else; process until smooth.

Line pan and refrigerate.

Layer 2: Almond Butter Mixture

½ t cocoa powder

½ t agave nectar

1 T coconut oil

1 T maple syrup

½ c almond butter

Combine almond butter with everything else.

Spread on chocolate brownie layer.

Layer 3: Chocolate Mint Glaze

¼ c coconut oil

1 T cocoa

¼ t mint extract

Mix and pour on top.

Place in freezer. 

Chocolate Raspberry Cake

Cake

Layer one: Chocolate Brownie

½ c soaked almonds

½ c walnuts

2.5 T cocoa powder

2.5 T coconut oil

2.5 medjool dates

1 t vanilla extract

pinch of sea salt

Blend almonds and walnuts until meal-like consistency.

Add everything else; process until smooth.

 Push into circular molds and refrigerate.

Place Raspberries on top, fill in with layer two.

Layer two: Chocolate

2 T coconut oil

½ t cocoa powder

½ t maple syrup

Mix together; pour into mold, freeze.

Raspberry Sauce

¼ c raspberries

1 T agave
